RAM TRUCK PULLING CLUTCH SYSTEMS

The RAM team is here to help recommend one of our many truck pulling clutch systems for your vehicle. There are multiple factors that go into deciding what unit is best for your application. Please use the online tech form to get started or give us a call with all your specs and needs.

RED HAT RAM SINGLE DISC CLUTCH SYSTEMS

As with all RAM specialty drag racing clutches, RAM truck pulling clutch systems are custom built and assembled for your specific application.  Based on the eleven inch Long Style cover design, these units feature a heavy gauge stamped steel cover with welded spring cups and a steel pressure ring.  A billet aluminum pressure ring with segmented steel inserts is an available option that we highly recommend.  Static pressure, often referred to as base pressure, is adjustable and as engine RPM increases, the centrifugally assisted levers apply additional pressure to lock the clutch up tighter as the truck travels down course.

Flywheels are available in billet steel or billet aluminum.  The clutch can be set up with a 5135 or 5191 compound iron disc in all standard splines up to 1 3/8-10.  Single disc ‘slipper’ style clutches can be used with engines up to about 700 horsepower, or where very limited slippage is desired.

RED HAT RAM DUAL DISC CLUTCH SYSTEMS

The same quality components and options used to assemble our RAM single disc pulling clutch systems are used in our Red Hat RAM dual disc pulling clutch systems. The fully adjustable dual disc clutch system will allow for a more controlled slip, initially, to get the sled moving without inducing as much wear or needing as much maintenance. Static pressure, often referred to as base pressure, is adjustable and as engine RPM increases, the centrifugally assisted levers apply additional pressure to lock the clutch up tighter as the truck travels down course.

Dual disc units are built to a shorter overall height for standard depth bellhousings using thinner clutch discs, or to standard height for vehicles utilizing a deep bellhousing.  You MUST SPECIFY which bellhousing is being used. ALL RAM TRUCK PULLING UNITS ARE SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS AND ARE NOT RETURNABLE ONCE SHIPPED.  Please make sure you have all your information correct when placing the order.

When ordering, please be prepared to provide the following information: Engine size, crank flange, balance, ring gear tooth count, bellhousing style, transmission type, transmission gear ratios, input shaft size and spline count, tire size, rear end gear ratio, vehicle weight, and any power adders being used.

NOTE: Standard depth bell clutch systems are NOT guaranteed to fit and some modifications/spacing may be required in certain applications.

RAM Pro Billet dual and triple disc clutch systems offer greater flexibility, durability and control for higher horsepower pulling applications.  These units are designed like all our high horsepower drag racing clutch systems where it is necessary to slip the clutch on initial launch to control the power application to the track.  Static pressure, often referred to as base pressure, is used to control initial slippage. This helps to get the sled moving, and as the truck accelerates, the centrifugal levers will begin to apply additional pressure and lock the clutch up tighter as the truck travels down course. Titanium adjustable stands make it easier to maintain the clutch ring height and keep the system consistent pull after pull.  Units are available utilizing either 5135 or 5191 compound clutch discs.

All RAM Pro Billet clutch systems require a deep bellhousing (8 1/8” or more) for proper fit. ALL RAM TRUCK PULLING UNITS ARE SPECIAL ORDER ITEMS AND ARE NOT RETURNABLE ONCE SHIPPED.  Please make sure you have all your information correct when placing the order.

When ordering, please be prepared to provide the following information: Engine size, crank flange, balance, ring gear tooth count, bellhousing style and depth, transmission type, transmission gear ratios, input shaft size and spline count, tire size, rear end gear ratio, vehicle weight, and any power adders.

Production times may vary depending on the season. One-off configurations may require a sample flywheel and an engineering fee. All RAM billet units require a bellhousing depth of 8 1/8 inches or more.
